While I was out there with Angie this time she got a phone call from a man that needed help with his dogs. He said they were mange covered and he needed help. When we got there he wasn’t home yet, so we looked around and we found these “dogs” they were tiny pups. It truly broke my heart; I was actually trying to figure out if I could afford to take them to the vet to get their treatment. So before he got back I hurried and took some pictures, it could have gone badly if he’d seen I had my camera. How can you not feel horrible when you look at these faces?

They were being kept in a 4x3 area filled with flies, ants, and crap piled up. The little grey one is only about 8 weeks old and the other is probably 10 weeks. They both had tummies full of worms and you could tell they were hungry. So we fed them, gave them the medication to treat the mange, de-wormed both, and got him to move them out of that area. So they are now in a larger, grassy, breezy area where they can walk around and play. You can’t tell from the pictures how mangy they really are, the grey one was pretty much bald.

A lot has been going on the last few weeks and I went out to help Angie. One of the dogs she feeds daily, General, was stolen from his yard. Days later he was found wondering on the street and a police officer took him to Animal control. Thankfully he was micro chipped and Angie was called, he was picked up, and he’s a different dog. There is a big possibility that he was fought while these people had him and since he’s gotten back home he’s been very dog aggressive. We’ll never know what happened, but we’re working on getting our best boy General back. While he was gone his owner claimed another dog in need. Her owners were moving and didn’t want to take her, so he stepped up and took her in. However she’s spending most of her time outside..

With way to much time on her hands…erm paws.

After we got done making our round; we headed back to her house because I’d been planning to groom one of her dogs for about 2 months now. He was so grown out and the last thing he wanted was for me to be chopping off his hair right then. The last few weeks he’s been very lazy, not himself and actually acting sick. I figured if anything getting some of that hair off of him would make him feel a bit better.

Sure enough once I was done he was bouncing off the walls, running, playing giving tons of kisses. I think he was really happy to be clean, less hairy and free of all that dirt! He has a natural Mohawk that she likes to leave alone along with the tips of his ears and his tail..
