These things happen, Xeph. Sorry they didn't turn out as planned. I guess that's how it is; win some, lose some. At least Justin was out there, you were out there, getting seen, getting practise... so it wasn't a fruitless day.
Move forward with all the more resolve and keep working hard so next time the winner will be so obvious, the judge will have no choice!
She was indeed one of those judges. The dog was excused because he wouldn't allow the judge to check testicles. He wasn't being vicious, just obstinate...kept sitting.
She told the junior the next time she showed a dog she should work harder....the girl did everything she could to get her dog to stand, but he wouldn't have it.
The dog doesn't have a temperament issue, I know the dog. And several other dogs that are sound didn't care for her either.
Sorry, I missed the pre-good luck wish. I know there is some disappointment but from reading your replies the last few months I know this is like rain off a duck's back. Besides that after show was over you got to drive home and you were in awfully good company. There were times in competition that I got stiffed and on the drive home the dog and I commiserated and cussed out the judge together.
Many years ago I had a GSP pup entered in an AKC puppy field trial, this was a 20 minute back-course and 8 minute bird field. This was a huge running pup(the kind everybody wanted)she blew right through the bird-field and spent about 6 minutes cruising back and forth on a hill 400 yards away and time came to pick her up and she did not place. The pup grew up and attained a AKC-Field Championship also an American Field Regional Championship and a American Field National Championship. The judge that did not place her in puppy trial and I talked years later and he asked how come I never ran dogs under him (could not believe he asked me that)I mentioned the puppy trial and he said oh yes he remembered and he said he was younger and not as knowledgeable then. That happened with puppy points, as you just discovered it can also happen with major points. I do feel your pain. Sorry for length I got stuck in a minor memory vent.
