Ok now im gonna flip out if this is true. I heard on the news they did not say why, but they said that the dog food companies was going to raise the dog food prices triple or quadruple their prices. In other words if you are paying 15 dollars for a bag of dog food you might pay 30 to 40 bucks for that same bag of dog food. Oh please someone tell me thats not true. If that was to happen there is gonna be thousands upon thousands of dogs in shelters and that very thought just makes me cringe and so sick to my stomach. I am so so so worried about this, and just praying this isnt true. How am I going to feed my babies if this happens. :(

Did they say anything more?

As you probably know, dog food companies aren't a huge conglomerate - there are many different companies, with different plants, ingredients, CEOs and CFOs. I can't believe that all of them are going to raise their prices, especially with no reason given.

Definitely interested to hear more though!

I have been looking online to try to find out more. So far nothing, I am not very good at finding things im looking for online. I am watching the news like a hawk out for any more updates. I been on here for hours trying to find something to back up what the news said. I am just worried to death right now.

They recently outlawed ALL downer cattle---they can't be used for any food at all, even dog food. Of course some people are not happy with that and will start rumors about meat prices going up....but I don't know that it's true. We'll see, I guess.

Edit: Although, I don't think the food I use has any beef in it at all......but cheap foods have "meat and bone meal" which is mostly made with downer cattle. So maybe the cheap foods will go up in price but the better ones won't?

Worst case scenario: Our dogs eat the same things we eat. It might not be as nutritious as dog food, but it would get them through.

I was actually reading that earlier today.. I am pretty happy about it as far as the food market goes.. I wouldn't want my dog eating that meat either. But.. there is no beef in her food anyway.
