Food stealing dog!

my girl, had her for 2 years, she is roughly 2.5 years old. well after we make dinner if we dont put it up, she will wait for us to leave and steal something!

last night she nabbed 2 grilled chicken breasts within 1-2 minutes, i kid you not.

how i knew, she was standing in the hallway with her ears back wagging the tail, she knew what she did was wrong. sure enough they were gone from the pan.

so she busts herself, how do i discipline that. :(

Not much you can do after the fact. If you catch her in the act then you could make a loud noise. I seen an episode of "It's me or the dog" and the dog would raid the fridge. They put an alarm on the fridge as soon as the dog opened it the alarm went off. The dog ran into the other room and stopped raiding the fridge.

heck the times i do catch her i will clap real loud and tell her to get out of the kitchen, she is dense! but my baby!
If she's getting the chicken, she's not dense at all.

Then put it up. Part of dog training is modifying their behavior when we have to, but a big part is modifying our own behavior to limit their opportunities to fail.

It's called "picking your battles."
i mean dense is she doesnt get it.

well the thing is we just got done eating, and i was letting the chicken cool so i could put it in the fridge lol.
You mean it would not cool in the fridge if it hadn't cooled to room temperature beforehand? Unbelievable :D If you were closer I would come over and watch it cool off for you. Although I would be tempted myself to steal it.

lol from the looks of it just wait for me to walk out of the room and its all yours, ha ha.

i dont like to put hot food in containers and then straight to the fridge
