Fetch vs squirrels

How do I get my do to like to play fetch more than chasing squirrels? He starts out fetching the ball or toy and then as he brings it back it turns into a game of keep away!! How do we get hem to bring it back without having to chase him all over for it?

Thank you for your reply. We will have to try that. The post suggests squirrels because he would rather chase a squirrel rather than play fetch.
