I have taken my dog out on bike rides before - I ride while she runs alongside. The first time we did it, she LOVED it and was actually pulling the bike forward. The second and third time, however, she was terrified of the bike and even now, when the bike is walked through the house, she hides from it.
The reason, as best I can tell, is the noises my rickety bike makes scare her. Have people had luck desensitizing their dog to a fear trigger like this? I've been putting the bike near her crate and often feed her under it so she gets used to it, and I'm going to start taking her on walks with the bike being walked as well, but I'm not sure if this is the proper procedure.
