I have an inuit husky (AKA Canadian Eskimo Dog). I live in western Canada and we've had a very mild winter. The dog is hot with his undercoat designed for very cold temperatures (he has happily chosen to sleep outside in -30 weather). How can I encourage his undercoat to come out? I brush him almost daily, lifting the overcoat and raking out the undercoat, but it's just not time to 'shed' yet. Has anyone had success in keeping norther dogs cool and thinning their coats before it naturally sheds?
