Elbow Dysplasia Surgery

As I said in my last post, my almost two year old Springer has a probable Fragmented Medial Coronoid Process. I'm wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this and if so, did you elect to have surgery?

I've been doing some research and finding that surgery doesn't seem to be that effective in a good number of dogs.
