My dog doesn't seem to be eating much. I mean, if I hand feed her she'll eat it but if I leave it in a bowl for her to get, she'll take a few bites and walk away. She seems to only be eating by my estimate at most 1 cup of IAMs puppy food a day by herself and I try to feed her a bit more myself. She's 6 months old now, 48 pounds roughly, border collie/beagle.
Is this normal for her to not by herself, should I force her to eat by hand feeding her or should I let her eat on her own accord? Her poop seems to still be in large quantities though. She doesn't seem sick or anything, she just doesn't eat too much, she's always been like this on food also.
My next question is I heard that if a dog is under 18 months (or is this just for larger breeds?), you shouldn't force run her for a long time. I was wondering if a 3-4 minute forced hard run would be appropriate to give her some intense short duration exercise. When she goes outside and runs free sometimes for longer than this if I lose the leash. Also, given the fact that she's a border collie/beagle, she has a lot of energy, can I take her on a run longer than this? Would do me good for the exercise but I would like to tire her out as she has a ton of pent up energy if I'm just walking her.
