Hi
i have been to the vets with my 8mth old yorkie. I thought he had ear mites because of constant itching. He doesn't have any. The vet says its because he has too much hair in his ears. Is this a job for a groomer or something we can do ???
Thanks

You can have a groomer pluck the ear hairs or you can buy some dry ear powder which you can pour into their ear to enable you to better grip the hairs and pluck them out yourself with your fingers. I try to keep my pup's ears plucked and I clean them once a week with ear wash.

In addition to cutting back the ear hair, did your vet recommend the ear wash? Any one in particular? If your vet did not recommend a specific cleaner, here is a home remedy that the spaniel folks swear by (many spaniels are chronically susceptible to ear infections)

How to beat ear infections

We have used this on many of our dogs - none are spaniels - with good results.
