Yesterday my 2 1/2 year old female border terrier was obviously having a hard time pooping. She yelped than went a little bit, it appeared normal. Than a few seconds later she yelped again and went more, but it was totally runny almost like water. She is eating and drinking fine but she has not pooped again, it's been over 24 hours. How long can a dog go without pooping? If there was a blockage she wound not have had anything come out would she? I just got the vet paid off from when she got sick 7 months ago and am unemployed now and have no $$. What if anything can I try at home. She is still active and running around but I am still worried. I will take her to the vet if I have to of course, but if I can do anything myself instead of going into debt again it would help.

Can you call the vet and ask? Diarrhea and then nothing at all is not a good sign. I know how it can be with money, I've been there, but if she does have a blockage, it's not going to magically disappear.

Thanks for the reply. She actually went this morning and it was normal, no yelping. But than an hour later she had very runny poop again. I am going to do what I can to take her to the vet.
