My vet is pretty sure my 11 year old neutered mix breed dog has cancer in his bladder. I'll know for sure when the lab tests come back next week. He said there would be nothing I could really do except keep him comfortable as long as I can. He is not in pain, but is leaking urine badly since he has lost control of this urinary muscles. He seems perfectly healthy other than this and it's just breaking my heart. My problem is what can I do to keep him dry in the meantime? Right now I'm using a long neck scarf with a Kotex pad in the center and tying it over his back. It sorta works but I have to change it pretty often. He's a big dog weighing around 60 pounds. Has anyone else dealt with this who could give me some advice? I want to keep him around as long I can if he isn't in discomfort but it's really difficult to manage this urine problem. I have shower curtains on his bed and "his" couch and a lot of rugs and plastic on the floor. He is such a sweetie and I just want his time left to be as pleasant as possible. Thank-you for any help you can give me.
