I have a Maltese that is 12 years old. We took him to the vet several years ago for teeth cleaning like we normally did and they had to remove all of his teeth except his 4 canine teeth. I came home today and one of his canine teeth on the bottom was sticking out the side of his mouth and he was pawing at it. I barely touched the tooth and it came out and he seems much happier.

My question is now he has a hole in the front of his jaw on the bottom. Is this ok and will heal on its own or should I take him to the Vet in the morning and see if they can sew it up?
I would take him now and ask them but they are not open.

I'd give them a call as soon as they're open and explain what happen. They may want to check him out in case there's an underlying gum problem that caused the tooth to come out, or a fragment of tooth still embedded in the gums, but either way they'll be able to tell you if a visit is necessary.
