Thanks for reading my post! First a little bit of background: I rescued my precious Cavalier King Charles, Ellie, about 3 years ago from a breeder. She has been a very loving and caring dog with only a few potty issues every once in while. We were told when we got her that she might have been breed a few times but they weren't 100%. So here is my question:

I am currently 5 months pregnant and this past week Ellie has been displaying odd behavior. On Monday she started whining and looking around for her fuzzy stuffed animals that she hasn't played with over a year. At first she gathered 3 of then but then started whining. The next day she adopted another one and so on till last night I think she found her final animal because that is when she stopped whining. She takes them all up to the couch and lays them all on a blanket or she will place them on me. This morning she started cleaning one of her animals like it was a puppy. My question is this: Do you think my pregnancy hormones are confusing her so that she thinks that SHE had puppies? She carries them around to the couch if we put them in her cage and at night we make sure to get all of them with her in her bed otherwise she cries the entire night. I would just like some opinions on this, it's not annoying it's just unusual for her to do this. We do have a vet appointment but they couldn't get me in till next Friday.

hmm, that is rather interesting. I have no kids or anything like that, however, my dog Zaharu had a false pregnancy and displayed many of the same things. She got big, even got milk .... then all of a sudden it went away and some of her favorite "toys" had become her babies. She would clean them and carry them everywhere. I called a vet and he said that around 8 weeks or so she should let up on how "protective" she is over them, them i could remove one at a time. But in you situation, if somehow the dog is picking up on your hormones .... maybe you'll have to wait it out till you have your baby as well.

Is your Dog still intact? I have heard of this type of behavior before but only from intact bitches.
