Dog pees near food bowls and near bed. Why?

Hello! I have an 11 year old English Cocker that is a wonderful dog. I rescued him 10 years ago. Periodically for years he has peed next to his food bowls and next to his bed. He goes out on a regular schedule and most always does his business outside with much praise following. I am just perplexed about why he pees next to his bed and food? He is the only pet in the house so no need for being territorial in my mind. Any thoughts??
