Hi everyone,
Well am kinda new here. Tryna learn my way around.
But for now, I have a little but worrisome issue with my dog.
She's about 9 months old, grown well as expected, very lively and full of energy. It has it crate(house) within my compound which is fenced round with a gate. She's exposed to only the family members. Stays indoors in the day and is let out within the compound at night.
THE PROBLEM IS, IT DOESN'T BARK NOR REPEL STRANGERS. WHAT DO I DO.
It's really hurting me.
Thanks in anticipation for your kind help.
German Shepherd dog it is.

Like, people passing your compound or people coming into your compound? Many dogs living in areas where people pass their home regularly don't bark anymore, because it's normal. My dog does not (at least not usually) bark when people walk by the sidewalk outside the fence, because it's normal and nothing is going to happen.

It doesn't have access to people other than my few family members.
Only few people come into the compound not regularly.
The fence is high so she can't even see outside.

I wouldn't worry about it...there's nothing wrong with her. I imagine if someone tried to enter your home uninvited she would alert and bark, which is typically enough to send most criminals packing. If people are just passing by outside your home, there is really no reason for her to bark.

Lucky you. It sometimes seems like my GSD never shuts up.

At nine months, she is still very much a baby, and expecting her to sound an alarm is kind of unrealistic.
