We have a one and a half year old chocolate lab. She seems to pick up on new commands very quickly. But when it comes to giving her a command outside of training sessions she seems to be guessing. I might say "beg" and she will sit, then lay down, then try to shake my hand, then finally beg. It is like this for all commands except sit. She just starts going through motions until she gets the right one. I am not sure if we are doing something wrong or how to correct this. I do not reward her unless she does the correct command the first time. Any suggestions?

It seems like she's confused on EXACTLY what the word sit means.
