Hi, my Shih Tzu is 12 years old and he keeps shivering (not violent shivering, but shivering nonetheless). He will not eat his food, although this is not unusual as he doesn't always want to eat. However, this time he just seems very sleepy and not interested. I don't drive and I'm home alone with him so I can't take him to the vet right now. Please help!! What should I do?

Shivering without being cold can be a sign of a stroke. I would keep him warm and comfortable in a place that he can't get hurt if he trips, etc. and take him to the vet as soon as you can. Do you know if he got into anything?

I don't think he's gotten into anything because he's been right by my side. He doesn't seem to want to get off of the couch so I'm just going to let him stay there and will sit next to him and keep an eye on him.

Low blood sugar is a possibility if he's not eating. But a ton of other things are also possibilities.

I would CALL your vet and ask for advice since you cannot drive.
