My dog Baxter (labradoodle, 5 years old) is itching his neck, chest, and his right ear more than is usual for him, but he keeps jumping up and sprinting around as if something has suddenly made him itch or has spooked him. There's no sign of fleas on him anywhere and his skin is the normal pink colour (he has white/blonde hair and pink skin), however there is a small patch at the top of his right ear that we thought was a scratch but looks more like a small rash.
He is also licking his lips quite a bit and is panting quite heavily and it isn't very hot. We've given him some piriton in the hopes it will ease whatever itchiness he is feeling but he's so unsettled and restless; it's almost like he's trying to nest in the corner of the room with cushions. Does anyone have any idea what could help him at least calm down and get settled for the night?

Your dog needs to see a vet. It is against forum rules to ask for or give medical advice. Your vet should also be able to tell you how to keep your dog comfortable until he can be examined without making the problem worse.

Once you have seen the vet and been given a diagnosis, you are welcome to start a new thread to discuss.
