Well I will have to buy extra food just for puppies when I get her, but what Im wondering is Gypsy needs to lose at least 5-10 pounds, she has been cut back to 2 cups per day 1 in the am 1 in the pm, daily walks, plus all her running playing fetch, I honestly don't want to have to spend so much money buying 3 kinds of dog food, should I look at the protein % in the food to determine if it will make her gain? They eat Diamond and have for years and they never have a problem with it, I know my breeder feeds pro-plan so the pups will be on that when they come home... should I buy gypsy weight management food? but again thats 3 bags of different kinds of food 50 pounds lasts me about 4-5 weeks... for 2 dogs.

The usual method of weight gain/loss is measuring/comparing the kilo calories. You will find a big difference in 1 cup of Diamond from 1 cup of say Natural Balance. Your vet should be able to advise you on how many calories she should get to lose weight.
