Several dog & puppy foods have been recalled due to toxic levels of vitamin D. Here is one article published Dec 4.

Here is the information from the FDA. The report lists some of the brands that have been recalled. It also says, "Many other brands with a common contract manufacturer have also been recalled. The FDA is working with the contract manufacturer to provide a comprehensive list of affected brands." Since we don't have a full list of the affected brands, we need to be diligent about watching our dogs for signs of toxicity.

According to PetMD, the following are signs of possible Vitamin D toxicity in dogs:
Vomiting
Weakness
Depression
Loss of appetite
Increased thirst (polydipsia)
Increased urination (polyuria)
Dark tarry feces containing blood
Blood in vomit
Loss of weight
Constipation
Seizures
Muscle tremors
Abdominal pain
Excessive drooling
