Morning!

I'm a new pet owner and new to blogs---I need help!

I'm trying to find healthy food for my new golden puppy and I'm hearing so many different things. I want to make sure I give my golden a good mix of nutriets and try to ward off the typical golden illnesses. I've been hearing a lot about organic or fresh food...my girlfriend heard about this company, "Freshpet"...has anyone? Supposedly it's really healthy....HELP!

Do your research in the food forum here, lots of stickies at the top even. Feeding your dog is a very personal choice.

First of all, what kind of food do you want to feed? Dry kibble, wet food or raw? Raw takes a -LOT- of knowledge and research to make sure you get it just right. As the post above stated there are a lot of good stickies and threads on the dog food forum here. http://www.dogforums.com/5-dog-food-forum

If you plan to go with a pre-made food like kibble or canned food there are a few really good websites you should read. http://www.dogfoodproject.com/ is my favorite. It will tell you what each ingredient you might find on the label of your pet food is and it's general quality. This page: http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=badingredients is basically a list of ingredients that you should avoid.

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com is another really good one. It will help you "grade" your dogs food and even gives some grades on common foods out there. I hope some of this helps!
