Hi everyone. For the past month we have been gating off the kitchen and allowing my 8 month old lab/shepard mix, Ivan, to stay there while we are gone. Recently(within the last 2 weeks) it seems that every time we gate him off he is chewing/clawing at the gate. When I come home I find the wire of the gate bent a little and wood chips on the ground. Because of the damage I assume he is chewing.

I have sprayed the gate with bitter apple spray and had no luck. Since he does this when I am not home, is there a way to correct this behavior or prevent it? I'd hate to have to buy a new gate every 2 months because of this. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

My parent's dog used to try to chew her leash on the walk. Bitter apple spray didn't work, but hot sauce did. Just make sure the pup has access to water because after taking a bite of that he's going to be thirsty!
