My dogs don't have a bed. They sometimes use our couch, sometimes our bed. I think they need their own beds. I don't like seeing them on the floor.

I am probably making too big a deal out of this, but just like all my research into dog food, I am researching the best beds.

I have decided that for my big dog, I want a couch like bed with a good pad and the bolster padding. I cant figure out which one is the best.

For my little dog, I want something with a covering, something he can hide underneath. I have only found one bed like this and I dont like it.

So, the point of this thread (which will help me out and also, I dont see this topic often) what kind of bed do you use? Why? and any ideas on what I am looking for? (Like, do you know where I can find these types of beds, I have googled and googled)

Thanks ~

I like In the Company of Dogs. They are pricey, but they have a pretty extensive selection and good customer service. Plus, you shouldn't have to buy a replacement dog bed all that often, so a high initial price may not be a bad investment.

I like Drs Foster & Smith: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pet_supplies.cfm?c=3307+1

I have one bed like this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+1+20283&pcatid=20283 and I can tell you that bolster beds are a PAIN to wash! The bolster has to be squished inside the cover and it's just a huge annoyance.

My mom has one like this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+1+11920&pcatid=11920 and it's a lot better, IMO.

I also have just a regular dog bed: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+1+14480&pcatid=14480 and I like it a lot.

Thank you so much! That really helps. Eventually I would like to post a pic of them enjoying whatever bed I decide!

I like Kuranda beds. They are sturdy and the treated canvas bed fabric simply hoses off (or you can scrub it in the shower). Eventually the PVC beds do need one or more replacement legs, but they are relatively inexpensive to replace.

I like Kuranda beds and keep meaning to get one for the porch where Kaylee likes to hang out, but indoors I have 2 fairly thin foam crate mats (fleece on one side, cotton canvas on the other) and a brand new 8" orthoedic foam bed that Kaylee got for a modelling job. :p

I bought a cheap futon mattress, a waterproof mattress cover and a few cheap fitted sheets. I wash the sheet to get rid of the dog hair, I have 3 big dogs so it works perfect!

We use these REALLY thick dog blankets, like if you put 5 fleeces together and compressed. One side is durable denim type fabric, the other side is a really soft fabric. I went to walmart and bought two $3.00 pillows and lined the bottom of his kennel with them, wrapped the dog blanket around the pillows, and the result is something you'd swear was goose down because it feels so fluffy and comfortable.

this is the blanket

I Prob will get heat for this but I bought a bed from costco for 20 bucks for a large...they always have a large amount to select from.

My dog also loves this bamboo matt i have in my room because its cool to the touch esp when the AC is on.
