I've been meaning for awhile to commission a couple of art pieces of my two Beagles, but never got round to it. Nessa's post about Rachel Cawley's Callahan art kind of inspired me to get started on looking, though, so I'm turning to DF for any resources.

Do you know of any artists that could help me out? I am looking for paintings/sketches that are as realistic as possible. Besides portraits, other art forms are also highly welcome; sculptures, glass art, that kind of thing. I'm looking for as many portfolios as possible so I have a good number to choose from.

I know some of you are artists as well and have experience with doing dogs, so don't hesitate to volunteer yourselves as well!

Thanks so much :)

I'd love to give it a try!
I just submitted my art porfolio to the AP college board, so I'm free to work on whatever I want!

could you PM me some pics, or links to pics, of your pooches? It'll give me something to work on in art until I graduate. :D

I'm gonna try to upload some pics of my works. Hopefully it'll work!

Ok, here're the links...

This is one of my favorites...

This is my father.

These are my faithful AllStars that I've had for 5 years...

And this shows variety.

My art teacher didn't think that animal portraits were a strong to have in a portfolio, unless the overall theme/idea was something akin to Peppers' (muscles in dogs, etc.) I'd love to give it a shot!!

I am a professional artist but I work mostly with semi realistic. Right now I have to finish up a commission for a logo for a pet daycare in Pasadena CA. but after that I can give you more info. I also do dog sculptures that are more realistic than my drawings. I can do realism sketches just not color.

here is some of my work

Thanks, Marsha! Your art is gorgeous. How much do you typically charge?

PP, is that Kikopup? I was actually thinking about her just now... I saw one of her ink sketches in one of her videos and loved it, but was wondering where I could find more of her art. Thanks :)

Edit:
Tuffy and Keechak, thanks so much. Tuffy, what are your prices for graphite sketches? Keechak, how much do you usually charge for sculptures?

$30-$150 depends on size and complexity my sculptures are also normaly mounted on a wooden stained base with an optional brass plate with the names of the dogs engraved on it. I've done the brass plate things once on a cocker spaniel sculpture and the buyer really liked it.

I had commissioned an artist (from here)a few months back to do a portrait of Digit. I sent her a deposit and never heard from her again. I didnt try to persue getting my deposit back (it was paid through paypal) I figured after my last email (I wasnt very nice) It was worth the 35 bucks I put down on it.

All of you guys do great work! Maybe after the burns on my butt heal from being burned.....I would love to finally get a portrait of my boy done..

Aw, that sucks, I'm sorry you got ripped off =( I've sort of had the same thing happen to me, but the other way around. I've gotten halfway through a person's commission only to never receive a payment and never hear from them again. It sucks to put so many hours of work into something and have it all be for nothing =( Who knows, they could have taken and printed the sketch I emailed them and used that for free even!

But I'd definitely like to start drawing some people's dogs here, since they're my absolute FAVORITE subject! XD On places like Deviant Art everyone wants me to draw something I don't care about, lol!

How much do you think you would charge for a Beagle, about 4" across?
