Hi there, first off let me say that for half my life all I've had were strictly outdoor dogs. After that they've been indoor/outdoor. So I'm not opposed to that at all....that being said, an awful lot of dogs just dont like to be outside without their humans. Its as simple as that. I personally dont believe dogs really actually need outside in the yard time ( I'm talking about just putting them outside in the yard to do their own thing ). I used to but my opinion has changed. We do put both ours outside, but they have a job to do out there and they know it;) . Yeah there are plenty of dogs who like to be outside doing their own thing but the majority I've seen or owned just want to be wherever their owners are mostly. And some dogs would just rather be indoors period. I personally think that when we put them outside, or leave them home alone they mostly just hang out waiting on us humans to come back. Then they throw a party. I know for a fact ours basically just rest up all day until we come home then its on! I dont think dogs occupy themselves nearly as much as many people think.
Who knows why your dogs decided they dont want to be out there? The environment changed....dogs do mature and change as they age.....their likes and dislikes change just like humans.
If you're set on them having outdoor time on their own, just leave them out there and ignore the pleas to come inside, theyll learn soon enough that they dont get to demand when they come in.

A dog can definately get so worked up it can vomit...... Also, it is extremely common for one dog to flip out when you let the other inside. The dog left outside ( or inside for that matter ) can be thinking its missing out on something.... Neither of my dogs like it if one gets to be inside or outside when the other is not. And our dogs are not extremely bonded to each other. We purposely raise our dogs to focus on us more than each other, they dont even stay in the same room together when we're not home.
