I've been asked twice if he is Basenji and one of them was a dog breeder. OllieKai was 3 months when I adopted him and they thought he was probably dachshund Chihuahua.

I cant get over how intelligent he is. Learns tricks extremely fast as long as I have treats. When we go to the beach or for walks where I can get him off leash he is acrobatic and always loves to jump and climb. He is 1 year old and about 18 inches or so long and 2 months ago he weighed 17 lbs. He likes to howl at fire trucks and didnt make a kind of barking sound till he was 8 months. I did however teach him bark command and he does a bark that sounds like a whisper. He does more of a bark when someone knocks on the door.

Please feel free to tell me your opinion, would you say dachshund Chihuahua or maybe basenji Chihuahua?

How cute! I don't really see anything that says "Basenji" to me. I'd agree with the "probably Chihuahua x Dachshund x something x something else".

And just because someone is a breeder, that doesn't mean they know a whole lot about dog breeds I've seen purebred, registered dogs that barely resemble the breed they are registered as. .

Meh, nothing really says Basenji to me, either. I would say it is more likely some sort of Chihuahua X Dachshund X Beagle X whatever! Basenji's are not that common, so it's usually more likely that it is a more common and popular breed. He looks like a lot of fun!
