I think it's good for all owners to know cpr and basic safety procedures. Also I think having a dog first aid kid is handy. I have a lot of the items on hand, but in a panic you might be running around the house for nothing. Best to have a list of vets on hand too- specially those that are emergency vets available at all times of the night. Based on my experience with my dog dying in the middle of the night at home, I keep the local pet cemetery and crematorium info on hand in a drawer.
