I have a 1.5 year old Chow & Retriever. That we got in Oct 2011.
On Mon 2nd, he had a big plate prime rib around 5pm. Nothing else to eat.
His first movement on Wen 4th in the am.
He dose not usually go in the house.
Although he has done this two times before when he has had diarrhea. He went in the house.

Any suggestion on how stop him from doing this on the carpet?
Thank You
Samm

Not much you can do about controlling the when and where of diarrhea other than hoping for time to react and get outside. You can't really get upset about an accident caused by being sick. I've been lucky that my guy will let me know, wake me up if needed, when he's had diarrhea and NEEDED to go out NOW we've made it outside each time so far. But I'm sure everyone has experienced themselves how sudden diarrhea can sneak up on you and had trouble making it to the bath room yourself, can't really be upset with a dog who can't let themselves out not making it out in time.

This isn't a potty training issue it's just a illness issue and accidents will happen. All I can suggest is that if you KNOW the dog is ill and has diarrhea don't allow them access to carpeted areas until they are better if you want to eliminate the chance of a mess on the carpet.
