Our 10-month puppy Meg has a habit of nipping ankles, untying shoelaces, and anything else that looks interesting at ground-level. We are trying to break this habit by turning away or removing ourselves from the room when she starts. However, when I'm working at my computer and can't take the time to be interrupted constantly, I found that if I put my feet into a garbage can, all the stimulus for biting and nipping has been instantly removed, and the behavior stops. It might look funny, but it works for me!

Management is key to dealing with problem behaviors. I'll admit, though, I did laugh at the mental image!
