I want to find out just how extreme I am. LOL! My dogs have several collars (6 for Cupid, 3 for Clayton) and leashes (5 for Cupid, 3 for Clayton) because I like to switch them up. My friend just told me she never had more than one collar and a couple of leashes for her dogs when she was growing up. So now I want to know about you. How many collars and leashes do your dogs have? Please answer based on how many you have per dog, not how many total.

Shadow- 2 collars, 3 leashes
Holly- 3 collars, 3 leashes
J.C.- 2 collars, 1 leash

I think I way a few more leashes floating around, too. I've also been waiting to get Holly and J.C. new collars/leashes, but I can't find any I like. I found two different butterfly ones the other day for Holly, but none in her size :(.

I'm sure on collars I have probably 100, maybe more, but I will try to count later and make sure. I started an inventory of them (along with my other stuff) and I was at 56 last I remember. I couldn't get through all of them. I'm getting ready to order some custom martingale's for them too, with their names and stuff.

On leashes I haven't started yet but I am guessing a few dozen.

Buster has 1 buckle collar, 1 collar/leash combo, a 6' leash and a 20' training leash. Once he grows a bit more, we'll be adding an Easy Walk harness to the mix. Just waiting for him to hit the extra large harness size...we're close

For me its a matter of wanting the right "tool" on hand when the need arises. At this point, Buster is "only" about 70lbs (5 months on Friday) so he doesnt drag me around a whole lot. He's really good about keeping the leash loose...unless we walk around a corner smack into a group of KIDS. Buster LOVES people but absolutely ADORES children of all ages and sizes.

um let's see

Web has his show collar, a snap collar with tags, a backup snap with tags, and his "getting really dirty" collar.

Kim has her show collar, snap collar with tags & backup, a couple "getting really dirty" collars (mostly retired collars).

Then they have two 6' Nylon leads, two 4' Nylon leads, a 6' Leather, a 4' Leather, three British slip leads, an old ratty 5' Nylon lead, two long leads, and the leather utility lead. And a coupler I don't use.

Oh and Webster has Kim's puppy harness.

I think that's it...I hit the 8+ option as well, though if you were saying per dog then it's more like 4.

All of my dogs have 4 leashes 2 harnesses and 6 collars
Plus I keep the first collar I buy for all of my dogs / puppies
And then I have a rack full of spare collars and leashes for strays and dogs that get dropped off at my house.

I'm addicted to buying new harnesses! I think Chloe has 8 (not including the ones she outgrew) with matching leashes, plus about 2 or 3 extra leashes for the beach to get dirty. I'm just realized how crazy I am counting them all:eek:.

Peanut has 1 collar, 1 harness, and 2 leashes.
Abba has 4 collars, 1 6' leash, and 1 20' lead.

Like Luvmyangels said, I like having the right tools. Or maybe I don't size stuff too well..;)

I admit it....I'm a collar addict! My 3 have so many, I can't count them all. Each dog has his/her own collar "cabinet" and leash "cabinet". It's a sickness, I know, and I've just transferred my obsession with shoes/purses/jewelry to my dogs' collars. AACK! Hmmm....they do look good when we go out for walks, tho'. And when Stella goes to the nursing home, the workers and residents look forward to seeing which collar/leash set she has on (I can't disappoint them, now can I? lol! :D

Basil has one collar for tags (camo green), one harness for walking (Blue w/ white stars and orange lining), one 6ft leash, one noose-style back up leash we got from his foster mom and one car harness, for car rides. However, in the short three months we've known him, he's gone through 4 harnesses and 2 leashes, lol! Luckily the car harness has remained unscathed, because for one it was spendy! Lol! And also we've had to use it as a back up walking harness when Basil is so gracious as to chew off the buckle or something on his regular harness.

Once I get a little more financially stable, I do plan to get him a few custom collar/harness/leash combos, though :D

I have four dogs, but you can't really see collars on them, so I'm not really a big collar buyer...they each have one, plus I have three back ups, one martingale and two flat buckle, so seven between 4 dogs. I only have three leashes right now, one broke recently and I need to get another, but in the meantime I have two couplers.

2 collars. 1 plain buckle collar geen.
1 martingale with beer mugs on it.

leashs.
1 plain black 2 footer.
1 green (matchs collar) 4 footer.
1 black 6 footer.
1 15 foot flexi lead (that I dont want to count, since I have had it 4 years and used it 5 or 6 times lol)

he has had lots of other collars and leashs, but I donate them after Im done with them. I do still have his baby collar.

I think the original post should be edited to ask how many collars and leashes EACH dog has... cause otherwise obviously the more dogs, the more collars and leashes.

My dogs have one collar and one leash each. Not counting retired ones. I don't know... I guess I tend to spend more money on things like food, toys, supplements and so on. Collars and leashes are purely functional for me.

1 collar with name & phone number embroidered on it + rabies tag, dog license tag, avid tag, & gold-plated name/address/phone bone tag (Poca's only concession to fashion).

1 Easy walk harness.

1 pet store harness - worthless - she slipped it the first time we used it and we've never used it again.

1 6 ft leash.

2 30 ft leads.

And one gigantic collar we've never used with her name on it that was an ordering mistake - it was 36". Not even sure I want to meet the dog that needs a 36" collar!

I bolded the relevant part. I think it gets lost because it's at the end of my post.

I'm enjoying the responses and look forward to seeing how the poll shapes up. Right now the 1-2 and more than 8 categories have the most votes.

I'm planning on buying them new collars and leashes some time soon but as of right now...

Eddie has:
2 collars
1 red leash
1 car harness

Uallis has:
1 collar (2 if I include his puppy collar but that is sitting on a shelf with what
was his favorite toy when he was a puppy...)
1 blue leash
1 car harness

They both share a retractable leash that I use for potty breaks...it goes out 20ft so I don't have to follow them around too much when they look for the "perfect" place to go...lol Uallis mainly uses it as Eddie doesn't really need to be on leash when he goes outside to pee.

I normally give/throw away old collars and leashes that I don't plan to use anymore so I don't really have a bunch piled up. They are all things that they use on a regular basis. I could even probably get away with one leash between the 2 of them since I don't walk them together but you never know when I'll need to get them both out of the house at the same time if there were an emergency or something of that nature.
