Hi there, hope I'm not out of place by putting a couple of comments here that would've helped me sign up a little easier :) I had some difficulty with signing up and thought you may wish to hear the experience and perhaps look at a couple of things and you read this email only in the good spirit I have written.

1. First, I'm not sure why you need a date of birth, and a comment that it is binding at that. I do wonder whether it's necessary, or if it is, whether it can simply be added to the forum rules if it's that important.

2. There are three human verifications. The first verification didn't work well yesterday. It's supposed to be a video but appeared as the old analog no signal (black with white spots like an untuned TV) with an error message. I then listened to the audio and (a) found it difficult to understand, and (b) I stopped after typing about 12-15 characters. They just kept going! I finally got the video working after a number of attempts.

3. Security question 2 asks, *Required, this field is not shown to others. Enter the last two characters of the word "DogForums"

I'm not sure what 'this field is not shown to others' actually means.

The correct answer to the last two characters of the word "DogForums" is s" and after multiple tries, I entered ms, which are the last two letters and not the last two characters.

The process was a little frustrating. Perhaps you could look at it? I almost walked away.

Thank you for your suggestions. While the process to sign in is a little cumbersome, it's intended to keep out spammers and bots who have flooded this site in the past. These days, we see a lot less than spam. We'll have a look and see if we can tighten up the process though!

Date of birth is part of the Federal Law for minimum age (cf COPPA) without parental consent. And if you don't want a bunch of hard-core porn spam, these hoops are necessary. <sigh> It's nice when they work properly, of course...

the quotes are generally not considered part of a word. for instance, if you were asked to spell "dogforums" out loud, you would not begin by saying quotation mark", you would begin with the letter d.
