How do I go about cleaning my puppy toys? They are starting to smell a little bit from her chewing on it, throwing it all over the carpets, etc.

I want to be able to clean it properly. Should I wash it in a washing machine without detergent? Small amount? I have the perfume-free detergent that I use on my regular clothes.

Should I be worried about squeakers being wet?

Thanks for any help.

I throw mine in the washer. I figure the washer can't do anymore damage than a puppy or dog's teeth. I just use regular detergent. Then I throw them in the dryer.

Soft fabric toys go in the washer and dryer here. Plastic or rubber toys get run through the dishwasher.

Once a week I run dog & bird toys through the the dishwasher, including rope toys, but the rope toys have to go through the clothes dryer for awhile too & then even line dried over nite.
I clean kongs that have been filled with soft stuff after each use basically. I wash them by hand with dishsoap & a tooth brush or bottle brush.
