Hi,

We have concrete deck in our backyard. And I'd like to place some synthetic turf in about 10'x10' area and use it as doggy play area. This will be used for play only, not for potty (there's a separate potty area).

I've checked a few synthetic turf company websites and it looks like all of them require professional installation. Is there any "outdoor carpet"-like turf so that I can just place it there and use (and remove if needed)? I guess one problem is that the "carpet" probably won't stay with rough play, so it'd be great if there is some easy and cheap solution to "glue" it down to the deck.

Is there a such thing?

We use indoor/outdoor carpeting on our boats. It withstands a lot of abuse and the elements as well. I am not sure about adhering it to cement though.

Perhaps try Rubberized Flooring. it generally comes in roll 4' wide and 25-50' long but you can buy it in tile form. It can be either laid down or permanently glued down with a material like roofing cement. It has traction, has shock absorption reducing impact and risk of injuries to the joints, and quietens sound as well. It's non porous and if your doggy does happen to make a mess on it, it's easily cleaned.

You need no professional to install this but they weigh about 2lbs so it may be hard labour after a while. Please, if you do buy this, follow the manufacturer's instructions on surface preparation and how to put down. It costs about 1.50-2.25 per square foot which is pretty good if the play area is small.

Try Tuflex, The Iron Company and RbRubber for these (sorry, I have no idea what these are as I'm not from the USA, but a quick Google Search brought them up.)
