I was at the dog park today and I saw a breed that I know what it is, but for the life of me, I can't remember it.

It was 100% black. Tons of fur. About 125 - 150 pounds. Long tail. Super friendly, and the breed, I think, is known to be friendly. Not any kind of mastiff. Much closer to looking like a black version of a Great Pyrenese ( sp? ) than a mastiff.

Thoughts? I should have asked the owner, but she was in a conversation with somebody and I didn't want to bother her.

Black Hovawart? Though they're not known to be very 'friendly' dogs. But honestly, when I think of a black version of a Great pyr, I think of the newfoundland :p

EDIT: I heard from a newfy owner that American and European type newfoundlands differ in appearance. Maybe interesting info?
