I have read so many posts of people recommending canned pumpkin to firm up dogs loose poops, but no one ever mentions the fresh stuff.

We do not have canned pumpkin here in Australia, no such thing! So, i was just going get fresh pumpkin and cook it and give it to Nugget.

Wouldn't fresh be better/healthier than canned? Is there something in the canned that works better than regular fresh pumpkin?

"Is there something in the canned that works better than regular fresh pumpkin?" Yes, convenience. Seriously though, cooked fresh is fine. Usually canned is suggested because fresh pumpkins are only available for a short time in the US and canned is available year round, plus many people find canned is easier to deal with because it's precooked.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Fresh pumpkin is available here year round.
