Not huge I would guess. Assuming the pug is a normal sized pug next to him, then he's maybe 20 lbs? so maybe 40 lbs grown?
I fostered a little shepherd mix. Looked just like a GSD but was only about 30 lbs. Kind of had the same look.
Unless you have an apartment weight restriction, I wouldn't worry about that dog getting super big or anything. Probably a nice medium sized dog.

Oh I'm not worried about him getting to big, in fact I'm kind of hoping for a medium to large sized dog. I live in rural suburban area with plenty of room for it to roam in the backyard, and am looking for a companion to have on my solo hiking trips.

I'd say medium sure, probably not large. Good size for hiking and plenty of fun but not so big that he takes up a ton of room in the car, tent etc or eats a huge amount either :)

GSD x beagle, maybe. Adorable dog, whatever he is.

Mix Breed.

I agree that he looks like he'll probably be about medium size. Could be a shepherd mix. Those ears are pretty much the cutest thing ever.
