We are preparing to welcome a new Malamute puppy into our home. However, I am on the fence as to whether I should get a male or a female. I know this can vary by breed that is why I wanted to ask all of you who actually have had Malamutes. We have 8 kids ranging from 6 to 15 so this dog will get a lot of loving! We are looking forward to this new member of our family and would really appreciate any input. Oh and this will be definitely be an indoor/ outdoor doggie. Thanks in advance!

The difference between a male and female is almost nothing. There might be some, but ultimately the dog is an individual. Some say males are more affectionate, but the breed is inherently not known for it's affection. Not to say it doesn't love you, just that they don't typically show it by the lack of space around you and by taste testing you.

The only real difference to me is in how they look. Males typically look bulkier and masculine, where females are more petite and feminine.

Thanks, Pictures will be posted for sure when we get him/her. Looking forward to it!

Thank you for your reply. Is your beautiful dog a male or female?
If you're talking about the one in my avatar/sig, he's a boy.
