If he only misses 1 meal per week, I suggest leaving things alone, unless you notice less eating or more problems. A healthy dog can do this, simply because he wants some treats, instead of dog food ... Or because he hasn't been exercising and he ate enough the previous night. So, I think your dog sounds like he's OK for now.

The gurgling on its own may be minor, simply a symptom of an empty stomach ... again this is also normal in a healthy dog eating normal food. When the dog's stomach is empty, it may be a little unsettled, so the dog may want to eat grass ... then may or may not vomit.

My current dog is 3yo and healthy and has a similar issue a few times a month. In his case, he wants dog snacks and dog condiments added to his food, instead of the dry food that I currently use. I also have this problem after a lot of training with treats ... He wants more treats ... instead of dog food.

I don't think this is an issue with your dog, based on your description.
