My 1-year old bostonterrier boy was diagnosed with dermatitis a few months back. He has a slightly raised dark red area on his testicle. He has received 3 (!) antibiotic treatments and we have applied a special over the counter cream on it. He also wore a e collar for several weeks to prevent licking.

After the treatment, The dermatitis cleared up but was back after a few days. I'm taking him to the vet again tomorrow, but I feel bad for having him on antibiotics for so long. Any thoughts on what might help?

I would also like to know if anybody else's dog has experienced this.

Thanks!

Maybe a fungal kind of thing? Did the vet do a scraping?

Did he check for ringworm? ( A UV light can generally see the fungus or a special ring worm test takes 5-10 days for results) Or my next step would be a biopsy. Take a sample send it to the lab. I would be nervous about that if it was my dog. Did the vet suggest a biopsy? one year old would be really unlikely to get a cancerous spot but weirder things have happened.
