I have a 7 week old Boston Terrier pup who first displayed an outward "bend" on her right leg a few days after i got her. It is in the joint just above the paw. I took her to the vet thinking that somehow she had injured it, but they didn't offer much explanation and put her on an anti-imflamatory med in case it was a soft-tissue injury. A day later, she shows the same problem with the other leg. This being our first Boston, I do not know if this sometimes happens with the breed and will eventually work itself out with a little extra nutrition, rest and time for the muscles and such to become stronger, or if I have a serious birth defect on my hands that will lead her to a painful and inactive life. Please offer any advice or similiar situation you have encountered, especially if you are an experienced Boston owner. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can offer.

This could be a birth defect... I would take it to another vet for a second oppinion. What could be happening is one of the leg bones is growing faster then the other. Or one of the growth plates is stunted on one side of the leg. This would lead to an arch in the leg and yes, a painful life if its not properly taken care of.

This is the result of byb breeding. Where the parents weren't tested for genetic diseases and the dogs were bred over and over till they put out deformed puppies.
NOT TRUE! This could be a congential birth defect, which there is no testing or way to predict it could happen. On another note, a responsible breeder would not be letting a puppy leave it's mother at anything less than 8 weeks old. You need to contact the person you got the pup from, because if this is a genetic issue they need to know and be replacing the pup, refunding your money, or paying the vet bills. I would ask your vet for a referral to a orthopedic specialist for your pup.

I know this is a very old post but I have a Boston puppy experiencing the exact same symptoms. Can you give me any insite as to what the problem ended up being?

This is a 12 year old thread. Considering this was the OP's first, and only, post, I would assume they are long gone.
