I went through bladder cancer with my German Shepherd Dog. She showed absolutely no signs AT ALL. A routine urinalysis showed blood in her urine that was persistent after a couple of rounds of antibiotics. We finally got an answer after submitting a urine sedimentation to a pathologist to read out; they were able to diagnose cancer based on that.

I also took a referral to an internal medicine specialist. Don't get me wrong; it was costly. The specialists had advanced imaging and diagnostic techniques to help with the diagnosis. My GSD had radiographs, an ultrasound and a CT done. We opted to forego chemotherapy and radiation due to the costs; instead, we had a tube placed to help her urinate when her tumor compressed her urethra (the tube that empties urine from the bladder) and started her on a drug that will sometimes slow the growth of the tumor. She did okay for about 3 months after we diagnosed her, which was about what we expected.

I hope that this helped a little bit. I'm sorry to hear about your beagle. :(
