Well yea pretty much as the title says.

She has a black area going from a little below her mid back extending to the tip of her tail. The area has no hair on it and she was constantly scratching to the point that we have to take the hair out of her teeth and were finding a lot more hair than usual. Starting to get worried...she also has a bump a little bit smaller than the size of a penny. The skin isnt black black...its kinda a light black but not to the point that its gray resembles a bruise almost. Ive uploaded a few pics to show exactly what it looks like.

Looked around a bit and have read that it could be allergies, a skin infection of some type, or just pigment changes due to age. I am clueless intend on calling around to different vets tomorrow to check prices on getting something looked at and taking her Wednesday since im off work. Hoping maybe someone here has experienced something similar so I can avoid it though...money is really tight right now... She has been abused by her previous owners and would like her to enjoy the rest of her life as comfortable as possible. So yea...im getting kind of desperate for an answer.

I'm no expert or anything but to me it looks kinda like bruising. To be honest, I would take her in to the vet. With the color change and hair loss it could point to so many different things.

Well today the sore looks a little more transparent and kind of looks like puss is building in it...which makes me think it really is a spider bite. BUT my brother has been bitten by spiders before...brown recluse to be exact...3 times if im not mistaking. Each time it got a bruiseish color around the bump and the bump stayed sore. BUT with the dog...she is fine with me touching and pushing on it. Doesnt make any sense...maybe its just some bump and healing...or maybe its different with dogs. Brown recluses are rather common around where I live.

Taking her to vet tomorrow to get a skin scraping to hopefully figure out what it truly is.

Just got back was just an allergy according to the vet. Gave a shot of cortosone to stop the itch and some antibiotics to clear up the blackness.
