Beef Liver "Brownies"

I just made a batch of these for mine over the weekend and they went absolutely nutty over them! If your dog likes beef treats you should give these a try, they are really easy to make and it makes a ton of them! I used to buy beef liver treats around here for $12.00 for 6 ounces, these look exactly the same as the ones I used to buy and cost WAY less to make (and make a LOT more than 6 ounces!) :)

Beef Liver "Brownies"

1 pound fresh beef liver
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. Wheat germ
1 1/2 c. Flour

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees.

Put all of the ingredients into a food processor or blender.

Puree until very smooth (about 4 minutes)

Grease a 13x9 pan with olive oil then spread the mixture into the baking dish until you have a well even layer across the entire pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Partially cool, then cut into small (1 inch) pieces while still warm.

Cool completely and then remove from pan.

Store in fridge or freezer.

Serve in small quantities as these are quite rich.

I usually make more of a liver bread but I tried a version of this today.

A pack of beef liver and kidney that has been waiting in the freezer for meat and bone to make up meals for Max, maybe 1/4 pound, 3 eggs, 1 clove garlic and about 1 cup of flour. I used the blender and it wasn't happy. Next time I could just add another egg. I poured the goo on a parchment paper covered cookie sheet and baked at 350*F for about 15 minutes until set. It cut beautifully into teeny training treats and didn't stick to the paper at all. That little bit of egg and organ made up a good pint of goodies. The blender wasn't even very hard to clean up.

Thanks!
Hey I used a beef liver and kidney mix. Chicken liver is more like beef liver than beef kidney is like beef liver! Basically it was like a crepe batter, meat/egg with a little flour to keep it drier than scrambled egg.
Oh, the eggs first. I will try that next time. I have a higher liver tolerance now I have been giving it to the dogs for at least 10 years. Dump the liver/egg out and then add the flour, that would help as well. Meat goo is easier to clean up than dough goo.
