For lack of a better way of putting it, it's "fake".

Think of it like getting a degree from a non-accredited university. Sure, you might get a "degree" but no one recognizes it because it fails to meet any kind of standards.

So, people can just start random registries? I guess I only thought there was AKC and UCK and CKC.

American Pet Registry, Inc.

It's something bybs and puppy mills have created to say their dogs have "papers". But it really means nothing. Well, very little.

Best advice for someone who ends up with a dog with APRI "registry" is the spay/neuter and give the dog the best life they can.

A registry is only as good as the services they offer you in return for your money. for example

AKC, CKC(canadian) and UKC all keep track of your dogs pedigree, titles, points, and hold shows for you to enter your dog in.

APRI, ACA, ect. Just take your money and give you a paper with a number on it

I have an APRI doxie. She's the ugliest (according to breed standards) dachshund ever. If she didn't act all doxie, I'd think she was a chiweenie.

I've seen some very sick and incorrect dogs registered with AKC too. NO registry guarentees quality, thats up to the the breeder to do.
