Hii, my boyfriend and i recently rescued two puppies from an abandoned litter. They’re brother and sister and are 5 months old. We’ve had them for about a month and we love them so much! We also have another female dog who loves them too, but recently while out for a walk a couple asked what breed they were and we replied with pitbull, ( this is what we had been told by the people who found them) but they commented that the didn’t look pitbull. This raised some questions and now i’m here looking for help!

Above is them, Stella being the brown patchy female and Loki being the darker patchy male. I haven’t weight them in a while but they were around 12kg when they were 4 months old but we’re quite malnourished from being i’ll, so they’ve put on a bit of weight now :)

And this is their mum who is was assumed to also be a pitbull, dad was unknown.
If anyone has any answers please let me know! i don’t really mind what breed they are but i’d love to know anyway 😊

While "Pitbull" (PB) is not an actual AKC recognized breed there are other registries that do recognize them.

These dogs both look like PB mixes to me.

You can run a DNA test on one (since they are littermates) and see what the results are. Then you know.

As mentioned, pit bull is a catchall term that includes American Pit Bull Terriers, American Bullies, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Bulldogs, other bulldog and/or bull & terrier breeds, mixes of any of those breeds, and pretty much any short-haired dog with a big head. From these pictures, I would say that they are either APBT or APBT mixes.

For what it's worth, my purebred APBT doesn't look like your typical "pit bull', either.
