So, I have decided to try using the The Honest Kitchen food as a topper instead of cans. So far so good. I hydrate it of course. Plus, I only have to use very little at a time to completely mix with the food, the saves me money and keeps the food fresh, vs. cans, they shouldn't be used past a few days. And it's also great for travel, no more lugging around cans. No refrigeration.

Also, I have been using the sample packs, which are only 1 oz of dry, and makes like 4 oz of "wet". It's very economical vs mixing cans.

Can I ask what the texture is like when you've hydrated it? I never thought of this as a possibility before, it does seem economical 4oz/$1. I'm paying $1.29-$1.75 for a 6oz can of Evengers and $2.95-$3.99 for 13.5 oz of Instinct/Wellness 95%. And I can control the wetness of it a bit better (the instinct cans have been very 'dry' lately).

I haven't yet, but was thinking of doing that with the Honest Kitchen (either as a topper, or as one of their meals each day). I still have the samples they were kind enough to send me a few weeks ago but for some reason haven't used them yet.

Are there any negative consequences to their teeth when using "wet" food as a topper?

The texture is like a lumpy oatmeal. But if you put too much water, it looks like a runny oatmeal, which is still fine, my dog likes it. Either way, its much more economical, plus you can use as much or little as you want without having to put stuff back in the fridge.

Thanks, I might have to order a few trial packs and see how she likes it. I'm pretty stocked up on cans right now (PSP just had a sale, go figure!).
