Hello All,

My wife and I are planning to adopt a Samoyed. We are looking for a reputable breeder and found Northern Maine Samoyed Breeder. I tried to get information about the breeder and there is hardly any information them. I was wondering if anyone in the community knows about Northern Maine Samoyed Breeder.

I am and owner/handler/breeder of champion Samoyeds in Maine. I have never heard of them. Unless she can provide you with their pedigrees and all clearances, both sire and dam and not their relatives,as recommended for the breed by Samoyed Club of America and OFFA done by a board certified vet in their respected field I would slowly back away. I've never heard of them.

The Samoyed Club of America, Inc. doesn't suggest or support any salvage club or association. Those recorded here have met the capabilities of safeguarding fundamentally Samoyeds, having at any rate one individual from the Samoyed Club of America on the administering body of the club, and every year consenting to this disclaimer. Reaching these gatherings ought to be done straightforwardly by phone, email, or mail. The Samoyed Club of America Inc. not the slightest bit ensures the administrations of any of the recorded gatherings, and their criteria for cultivating, putting and receiving hounds.

I am thinking about buying a puppy from northern Maine samoyeds and picking it up this weekend. She has the application for akc registration.
This is my first time buying a puppy myself and I can't find much about the breeder online. Was hoping someone knows her or has any information?

AKC registration is the absolute bare minimum. What do they do with their dogs besides breed them?

What titles do their breeding dogs have? Do they have conformation and/or performance titles? If they aren't titled, then why not? If they offer excuses like "conformation is just politics" or "I don't have time" or "I know my lines", that's a big red flag.

What health testing have they done on their dogs? Samoyed do have some health issues, and if they cannot provide hard copies of the recommended testing https://www.ofa.org/recommended-tests?breed=SA and/or offer excuses as to why they don't do it, that's another red flag.

If they charge more for full registration, or don't have a non-breeding contract on pet quality puppies, those are more red flags.

A quick look at their Facebook page turned up a litter of Pomeranian x Siberian Husky pups, which is another red flag, since good breeders don't breed designer mixes (serious sport or working mixes maybe, but not designer mixes).
