My 9-pound papillon was spayed at around one year of age and it went fine, and she's been put under for thorough teeth cleanings or extractions several times during her life. The last time, two years ago, she was 12 years old. No issues whatsoever. With all the tests you've had done, the promise of full monitoring while she's under, and your vet's qualifications, she should be just fine.
Anxiety about spaying chihuahua.
Hello everyone, this is my first post here. 
To start off, my dog will be 4 years old in July and she’s still not fixed yet, but has been through all the necessary exams and I’ve even gone above and beyond in terms of that. (Physical exam, bloodwork, chest X-ray, ECG, and a heart ultrasound.)
Everything looks great, except for the finding of a mild leaky valve (they said something about one of her valves not closing all the way) but it’s so mild that she doesn’t need any medication at this time and she doesn’t show any symptoms and is a very active dog.
I’m taking her to the best vet in my city, who also happens to be an emergency vet when he’s not at the clinic. She’s going to be fully monitored and they’re giving her an IV drip as well as gas anesthesia with oxygen.
I’ve opted for doing a traditional spay because of her age, I had the option of doing laparoscopic but that would only remove her ovaries and I want to ensure she is safe from uterine cancer when she’s older.
The reason I didn’t spay her when she was younger was because I was very uneducated on the topic and my old vet didn’t really explain anything to me. But I recently found out about Pyometra and there’s no way I’m going to let my dog go through that.
The thing is I’m just so terrified of putting her under anesthetic, I know the risk is low and the doctor even stated that she has about the same risk as a completely healthy dog with a regular heart. But I keep getting thoughts that maybe she will die on the table or even just die instantly after administering anesthetic and she won’t even get to start the surgery. I don’t know how to ease myself from these thoughts. If something happened to her during surgery I don’t think I’d be able to forgive myself, she’s my sweet little girl.
I guess it would just be nice to hear some other people’s experiences with spaying their small dogs, bonus points if your dog was a bit older when they were spayed. Please help reassure me!
