I have a 3 year old rescue and I'm not sure what to do anymore. For a few weeks I've broken it down and given treats for each step, but the final step we're not progressing. I can get my dog to give me her paw and I can hold it, even put pressure on the nails. I can even tap or place the nail clipper on her nails. But when I actually try and cut the nail it's over. She resists hard and moves away from me. I have tried all sorts of trump treats even summer sausage. I can't make it past this point. It seems nothing is worth it to her. I have also tried using a manicure emery board and the second I rub it on a nail, she resists and moves away. I can't think of how to break it down any further. A few tries at the nails ends the session with her not trusting me any more and the treats not motivating her. Advice? btw, dremel is not an option as she has noise anxiety. Thanks!
